Our Journey
In 1962, the enterprising Late Sh.K.L Mehta established Jai Gopal Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd (JGEW) after years of experience in his family’s welding and cutting gas equipment business. Overcoming challenges with unwavering determination, JGEW became a leader in manufacturing welding and cutting equipment, industrial valves, and pressure regulators.
In 1986, Jai Gopal Mehta, the founder’s son, took charge as Managing Director, envisioning JGEW as a pioneering company that sets industry standards. With a focus on delivering efficient, premium quality, and precise products, JGEW expanded its reach to serve diverse sectors, meeting growing client demands.

Early Days
Jai Gopal Mehta, born in January 1962 in Delhi, immersed himself in the world of manufacturing from an early age. Joining his father’s company after completing school, he gained practical experience while pursuing higher education. Equipped with deep knowledge of the family business, Jai Gopal applied advanced technology and comprehensive management strategies to JGEW’s manufacturing processes, integrating marketing and operations. Birth of a Spark
A pivotal moment occurred when Jai Gopal’s father proposed the idea of incorporating medical and industrial gas cylinder valves into welding and cutting blowpipes and pressure regulators. This seemingly simple yet groundbreaking idea gave birth to Asha, India’s foremost welding and cutting equipment manufacturer. This story exemplifies the truth behind the founder’s favorite words: “Those who are enlightened find the world illuminated.”
After years of learning and implementation, Jai Gopal Mehta discovered his formula for success. The Quality and Safety Area within our company oversees the Quality Management System and Company Prevention and Protection Systems. This area manages processes related to testing and certification of plants. These processes are conducted by highly skilled internal personnel who are independent from other functions involved in plant construction.
